Mandate

The Standards and Quality Assurance Department is mandated to establish and maintain uniform norms and standards on the learning of medicine and dentistry; to prescribe the minimum educational entry requirements for persons wishing to be trained as medical and dental practitioners and physician assistants [medical, anaesthesia, and oral health], and to determine and set a framework for professional practice [ethics of the profession] of medical and dental practitioners and physician assistants [medical, anaesthesia, and oral health] in Ghana.

The Standards and Quality Assurance Department is the liaison between the Medical and Dental Council, Ghana and Health Partners funding Council's activities, other regulatory authorities in Ghana and abroad, international regulatory associations with whom we share and benchmark best practices, and medical and dental practitioners and physician assistants' [medical, anaesthesia, and oral health] associations in Ghana and the diaspora.
